We founded Miyakojima Kids Net with the goal of imparting numerous environmental ideals and conservation know-how to the children who would be our future hope, in the hope that Miyakojima's environmental problems may be alleviated and restored in the future.
Our global outreach efforts to conserve the marine environment are grounded in a "sociocultural-environmental studies" approach.
Many of the variables that contribute to environmental degradation and change are driven by human behavior, and effective interventions require a grasp of the local people's cultural and historical context and the distinctiveness of their social structures and shared temperaments. This is the reason why we gather detailed data on Miyako Island.
All articles on the Miyakojima Kids Net are written in everyday Japanese to appeal to the island youth. The English version is a condensed version of the Japanese edition, intended to provide a general overview of Miyako Island to children and young adults worldwide.
Miyako Island has a rich past of distinct dialects, cultures, and histories that we aspire to share with children and young adults on the island today. This website is a platform to share this vision and present an authentic narration of Miyako Island's past and culture. This also means we integrate as many Miyako dialects into the narratives as possible, alongside Japanese translation, so as to convey the original nuances of the content.
